Personal Relationship Advice and Support for Christian Women

How Will I Know?

Often times there is a struggle in singles to know if they have ‘permission’ to be married or what the right course of action is for finding a partner. They get frustrated because the Bible has no ‘rules’ for dating or courtship. Yet understandably, still want to know the truth and what God’s unique will is for them.

This week, I thought I would share with you a devotional from ‘My Utmost for His Highest’ by one of my favourite Authors, Oswald Chambers, who has some incredible insights into spiritual living.

How Will I know?

‘The only way you can get to know the truth of God is to stop trying to find out and by being born again. If you obey God in the first thing He shows you, then He instantly opens up the next truth to you. God will never reveal more truth about Himself to you until you have obeyed what you know already’.

Each one of us is uncountable to God for our choices. (Even if we follow someone else’s advice, we are still making a choice!). Sometimes we want the comfort of a set of rules, which tell us what to do rather than allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth and the best choices to make. The word says, ‘But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true--it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.1 John 2:27 Also see Jer 31:34, Math 13:11 John 6:45.

Reflection

If you are born again and being taught and guided by the Holy Spirit, you will know the way. So, for this week’s reflection, is there a truth has God already revealed to you about the way forward with your questions regarding dating and marriage that you are not being obedient to?

If you are walking in the light God has already revealed to you, be bold and seek Him for the next step.
